There may be no new thing under the sun, but Marco finds that a reassuring truth in life rather than a monotonous reality. In his personal and professional life, Marco enjoys taking the tried and true – whether that’s physical objects or concepts – and giving them new life. In his role as a Junior Technologist, Marco has worked on the facilities management side of managing projects of all ages as well as working on adaptive reuse projects. Even on new projects, he says, “there are repetitive or established aspects of architecture, but you apply these rules and parameters in ways that haven’t been seen before in a way that is exciting.” This marriage of the old and new creates spaces that make people feel comfortable in an indoor environment. And Marco helps project managers create accurate and effective drawings to achieve this goal as well as pass all permit and inspection expectations.
“I was first attracted to the architecture field through appreciating the design and aesthetics of buildings. However, the more I work in the field, I’ve shifted my interest to the technical aspects of how to better prepare construction documents, technology, and, processes to achieve complex and interesting designs.
In particular, Marco enjoys his work at Martin Simmons Sweers because many of their projects move away from simply doing things the way they’ve always been done and embracing a modern look and features that tackle sustainability. A combination of reuse of older objects and sustainability is also a personal passion for Marco. He is an avid photographer with his 35mm film camera as well as searching out antique and retro stores and vintage clothes that can be turned into new fashion.
“I’ve enjoyed working on 414 Westhaven as it brings urban and modern aspects together to produce a great residential complex, while providing a new approach to produce drawings and details.”
